Grassland agro conference highlights growth potential of agri business sector.
Grassland AGRO; a leading agricultural business across the island of Ireland, celebrated it’s first anniversary on Tuesday 14th January by holding an exclusive strategic conference in the Heritage Hotel, Killenard, County Laois.
The key message from the event is the potential growth of the agri business sector in the next fifteen years and how Grassland AGRO’s technological advances have helped and will continue to produce speciality products to aid this development. Professor Jose Maria Garcia-Mina gave excellent scientific insights into the tremendous Research and Development capabilities available to Grassland from Groupe Roullier.
The conference was chaired by Matt Dempsey, Chief Executive and Chairman of the Agricultural Trust and recently retired Editor of the Irish Farmers Journal. The day was a great success with over one hundred and seventy senior personnel and management within the agri business sector attending.
Liam Woulfe, Managing Director of Grassland AGRO said “It was an honour to host this strategic conference and bring together some of the finest agricultural minds in the country and within our business to inform and highlight the future of farming in Ireland. Grassland AGRO works continuously to improve our products, our relationships with merchants and farmers and add value to the agricultural business sector”.
Speaking at the Conference, Stan Lalor from Teagasc, Johnstown Castle highlighted; “The message about getting the basic elements of soil fertility management right on farms is more relevant now than ever. Optimising soil pH, lime, organic manures and fertilisers based on soil testing and fertiliser planning is essential to maximise the return on inputs, and to achieve the full potential of our soils”.
Liam added “Soil sampling is at the root of focussed and economic farm optimisation. Grassland AGRO has Technical Agronomists available to support farmers to take the samples and get the soil tested and receive advice based on the results”.
Grassland AGRO was formed on the 1st February 2013. It was created from the coming together of Freshgrass Group’s, Grassland Fertilisers business and Groupe Roullier’s, Irish business. It is now a 50/50 Joint Venture Company between The Freshgrass Group and Groupe Roullier.
Grassland AGRO has three fertiliser blending plants in Limerick, Cork and Slane with their head office based in Ballymount in Dublin. Grassland AGRO sources, produces and sells the complete range of conventional commodity fertilisers as well as the most comprehensive range of speciality fertiliser and soil conditioning products.
